Achieving thermal comfort in shared spaces is challenging due to individual variations and the recognized limitations of centralized HVAC systems. This paper reviews the trends, challenges, and future directions of Personal Comfort Models (PCMs) as a promising approach to address this issue. It also stresses the need for a holistic framework that integrates insights from psychology, social science, and thermal comfort research.
The study underscores the importance of ensuring that future PCMs move beyond theoretical models to become practical, scalable, and socially inclusive solutions tailored to real-world environments.
