This study presents the development of a building shading database for Gyeunggi Province of Korea using urban-scale shading simulations based on EnergyPlus. Spatial autocorrelation of the building-level shading index was analyzed using global Moran’s I and local indicators of spatial association (LISA).

From the case study, it was observed that the moderate level of spatial autocorrelation across Gyeunggi Province (global Moran’s I = 0.122), and the relationship between building-level shading index and urban spatial information. These findings demonstrate the potential for interpreting building shading effects from an urban planning perspective.
